The foundation is happy to inform all our supporters that in 2014 we completed our first and primary project objective i.e. Having experienced first hand what these incredible children and their families endure on a daily basis we decided our goal would be to transform the playroom on St Johns Oncology ward to a place of joy and distraction for the children and their parents.
With the support of all of our fund raisers, the brilliant design skills of Des and Lucy at Plus Architects and the excellent fit out skills of Karl, Mark and Graham of T&I Merriman we believe we really have achieved our original goal. The photos of the playroom speak for themselves. The Playroom has won not only the most important approval of the Children and their Parents but also the thanks of the staff at Crumlin and the project even won a design award from Institute Designers Ireland. As well as the imaginative design the playroom also includes technologies such as large screen television, Xbox, IPADs (thanks to Robert Hennessy’s Family & Colleagues), and IPOD loaded with soothing images, games, educational software and music.
The playroom became a reality due to the incredible support of so many people who gave of their time and hard earned money to make this possible. We think of the children who ran events in their school, marathon runners and walkers, motorbike riders, sale of workers, rally drivers and many more. The list of people is so long our thanks is never ending to all. We hope these pictures of the finished playroom show everyone that gave so much just how special even a small playroom can be and we do know just how much it will mean to the children and their families.
